New leadership & plans for the future

Dear Members

On the 1st October 2019, Steve Clark took over as Chairman of Harrogate Cricket Club. George Owram took over as Director of Cricket. On the 2nd October 2019, Steve and George outlined their future plans for the club at a members meeting. The meeting was well attended by approximately 40 members. It was great to see so many people there who were enthusiastic about the future of Harrogate Cricket Club.

At the meeting it was explained that the structure of the club needed to change. The club cannot be run by one or two individuals but needs many more volunteers if it is to reach its true potential. In order to try and ensure the smooth running of the club, and to improve the running of the club, it is proposed to have a series of sub-committees who are responsible for running different aspects of the club. Those sub-committees are as follows:

(i) senior cricket

(ii) junior cricket

(iii) grounds and facilities

(iv) fundraising/membership

(v) social

(vi) communications

(vii) the Balcony

A number of volunteers have been recruited for each committee. If anyone else is keen to get involved in any part of the running of the club please let us know by emailing harrogatecricketclub@gmail.com

In the coming months we will be asking the wider membership to help commit to specific dates where there will be painting, gardening, tidying up required at the ground.

We also need to recruit volunteers to assist with running the Bar. We also want to recruit people to act as the club steward on each Saturday during the cricket season. Separate emails will follow on these different subjects in due course.

If you have any specific ideas about the future running of the club or would like to get involved with any specific aspect please do not hesitate to contact us.

Regards

Steve Clark and George Owram
